I didn't go to Spain for just touring and playing. I went for a wedding. My younger brother Rob met Carenina and her family while serving his mission in Barcelona. He fell in love instantly. I now know why. When I first met them I instantly fell in love to. What amazing members of the church and kind people. Not only to mention how beautiful they are. I would do almost anything to have tanned skin. I'm albino for life.
This part of my trip is mostly wedding. My parents and youngest brother Travis came. I was so happy. Not only to have more family here, but so I could actually talk to someone in English. My spanish is bad. Robert was mostly kissing Caren vs talking to me. I don't blame him.
The Civil Wedding:
Caren's sister Caterina putting makeup on Caren. She was a professional.

Me and Trav! Trav spoke better Spanish than I did lucky guy :)

The family after the civil wedding. Dad, Rob, Caren, Mom, Trav and Me

Me, Cate, and Carol at the luncheon after the wedding.
The Reception:
Caren's colors were a royal blue. Rob looked so good in his Tux!

My very favorite Peruvian tradition!
story: In Peru instead of throwing the bouquet they put strings of ribbon underneath the cake. All the bachelorettes come up and grab a string. One of the strings in connected to a ring. Whoever pulls the ring out is the next to get married. Caren also threw her bouquet to honor the American tradition. It just so happened out of all 20-25 of Caren's friends the same girl who caught the bouquet also pulled the ring out. It was hilarious!!
The Madrid Temple:

Just got married!! Coming out of the temple!!

Family Photo

Rob and Caren are so cute together.

The famous bear and tree in the center of Madrid. I have never seen so many people in my life.
Last Day in Barcelona:

A very cool Cathedral.

Another favorite spot. I had to see it twice. The palace now turned into an art museum.

View of the city from the Palace. Rob, Cate, Trav, Mom and me.

Another view of the Palace. So pretty.

The Olympic stadium. I didn't know they held the summer Olympics in Barcelona.
The Castillo de Monjuic:

I'm guessing this is where the mote was. Now it's a garden.

The castle was a fortress protecting the port

One of the many guns stationed at the castle.

Self Portrait. My last day in Spain was exactly what I wanted. I wanted to see the whole city. The view from the Castle was amazing, and even though it was cold and windy I had a great time.
After many sad hugs of goodbye I was able to come home after 2 weeks in Spain. My flight was delayed in Barcelona. By like 3 hours. I missed my connecting flight in New York. I was standing in this huge line in tears waiting to get on a standby flight. I was so embarrassed I was crying so by time I got to the counter this huge black lady saw my distress and said "Oh baby, I'll take care of you." I had to wait in the airport for a couple more hours but was able to get on the next flight. I sat next to this huge guy but I didn't care. I was going home to Ty and my babies. I missed them so much.

I have been waiting (im)patiently for pictures of your trip! It looks like it was a wonderful time, and you got so many great shots. *jealous* And your hair is amazingly long and gorgeous. Has it really been that long since I saw you? Glad you had an awesome time, and glad you're home safe and sound.
It sounds like a great trip! Glad you made it back home.
Oh Stephi! That looks like it was the best time! What an awesome experience!
Question though... why the civil and temple ceremony? I remember my oma going to my mom's cousin's wedding and she did the same thing, civil one first and then married in a church (not LDS) after. Is that some law there?
So glad you had a great time! Love you!
